So… many of you guys know I don’t out unless it’s completely necessary, work related, or I’m just plan ‘ol in the mood. Well last night I pretty much had a “little out on the town” moment… It started off at Hotel Icon where Jones Magazine wrapped up Houston Fashion Week with celebrity make-up artist Sam Fine… I think they called it “Face Time with Sam Fine.” I, of course, was invited by my bff Alexis and her partner at Medley Inc. (Ashley Small) who also works for Jones Mag.
Sidenote: Those girls are the best and always keep me in “the know”… if by chance you don’t know them, you should get to know them by following them on Twitter… I’m sure they will be taking over the world soon. Other honorable mentions that I saw were my very own stylist and make-up artist Tori Shalea, Ryan Small (of Medley Inc./Ashley’s hubby/photog of the pic above) and super cute preggers fashionista Shandolyn (bka Shan/photog of the other two Sam Fine pics).
I felt totally inspired by Mr. Fine. Not only did he “beat” the model’s face honey (lol), he answered a lot of really great make-up tip questions… I felt honored to be in the presence of such beautiful people and yeah I grabbed a “swag bag” with some quality goodies that I’m already testing out :)
After the “Face Time” event I drug Alexis out to dinner lol… She was beat tired from all of the work and fashion events but she sucked it up and came anyway. I had a tasty bowl of gumbo and fresh bread from Pappadeaux while she had the boudin and we caught up on the typical subjects- God, life, guys, people… you know, the general topics. As good as everything had gone, the night couldn’t end there for me because I knew I wouldn’t be going back “out-out” for a while lol… A friend of mine invited me to his party but being that Alexis was crazy tired, I spent my parking mula (they should consider taking cards) and I was rolling out solo, I decided to just meet up with Will… and this is where things got interesting.
I met Will at Rocca Bar and we had SO many laughs, you just don’t know! Our buddy DJ Xplicit was killing his set and there was a band called The City that began performing shortly after we heard Xplicit spin. They were pretty fun and totally had that over 40’s vibe with all of the soul singing and toe tapping. For a while, we were just talking/joking, and then Will’s buddy Marissa joined us. She had me rolling (ok not literally), I had her and Will dying and we were having a good ‘ol time. So there I am, laughing and singing then I noticed this face… it just happened to be the guy (Phil Wade) that got national attention from impersonating Trey Songz. He actually performed Rick Ross’s BMF and Trey Songz’s “Neighbors Know My Name” L-I-V-E people lol… he was river-dancing, shuffling, pelvic thrusting and all. I was literally choking from laughing so hard. He had a whole crew of drunken supporters that were right there dancing and gyrating up a fool storm. I mean, this was like something out of a movie. He went down a line of women, touched them on the forehead, and they acted as if they were fainting in a perfectly timed, un-timed ripple. It was classic. I don’t have any pictures but I do have really horrible video footage that I might try to put up later though. (Sidenote: Mind you, he is a real singer and has an actual single he’s pushing that was not bad at all, go check him out.)
From there, we went to visit our friend Candice… who I must say inspires us all to work out. That did NOT stop me from ordering more food though lol. She told me I could pig out until she starts training me in the next few weeks- and yes folks, I’m terrified.
SO as you can read from my lengthy “little” story, I had the perfect definition of a good night. I had a great time with friends, a bunch of laughs, and copped an AWESOME swag bag. I was able to get work done (in the studio earlier that day) and “party” a little that night- I feel like I balanced myself a bit more… And even though the weather has me feeling a little sniffly, I’m actually glad I went out. I look forward to seeing what my friends and I run into next :)
