After a year long of wearing hot pink lips (MAC Show Orchid to be exact) I have decided to go back to my roots—the smokey eye. Here’s my 5 simple steps to achieving the perfect smokey eye.

Line the inner top and bottom lid with black eyeliner, I like to use Benefit’s BADgal liner.
To elongate my lashes, I like to do a slightly winged line on the top lid, and use a gel liner with brush application. MAC blacktrack works great.
For the actual smokey eye, I love using brown shadow. Start with a light sweep over the lid, and gradually add another layer to the to the outer crease. This adds depth and dimension. I personally love Benefit’s Big Beautiful Eyes compact. The darkest shade works great and you can use the highlighter on your brow.
Using a thin bristle brush, line the bottom lash line with brown shadow for extra drama. The brush that come with the Big Beautiful Eyes kit is perfect.
Lastly, I swear by Lancome’s L’Extreme mascara in Noir. (Black, of course.)
