- Anonymous asked: Is it really that difficult being a young Black woman? Aren’t you exaggerating just a bit?
- Anonymous asked: stop acting as if you’re oppressed… it’s the 21st century. time to stop living like it’s a segregated society and time to start realizing that opportunities are available to you regardless of your race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.
- Anonymous asked: Not EVERYTHING has to be about race. #sitdown
Stuff like this makes me laugh… True: EVERYTHING doesn’t have to be about race but as a matter of fact, we live in a country where a lot of things are. We can not pretend that race and racism does not exist but we can encourage acceptance for each other’s cultural differences so that one day it can become less and less of an issue. As Kerry Washington so eloquently stated:
I’m not interested in sort of living in a world where my race is not a part of who I am. I am interested in living in a world where our races, no matter what they are, don’t define our trajectory in life.
PS: I promise the public school/mass media version of the Civil Rights Movement has jacked up everyone’s minds lol… We need to be a little bit more realistic and honest with ourselves, even if it is difficult to look in that mirror.
